This is a full-day in-person workshop. In this class we will take an in-depth look at the domestic hot water system for commercial buildings. It is essential when designing domestic hot water systems that we not only try to understand how each water heating system will function but how each facility will operate and use domestic hot water differently. As plumbing engineers and designers we are tasked with providing code compliant, well planned, and cost-effective plumbing systems that protect the health and welfare of the public. As well as systems that are owner and maintenance friendly. In this class we will put pen to paper. We will layout several different types of boiler systems. We will calculate our hot water demand, size the boilers/water heaters, size our piping system, select the correct mixing valve, calculate the correct circulation pumps size and discuss how important it is to coordinate with the architectural layout, structural elements of the building and other trades inside and outside the building.
