Skip began his career in Public Accounting with KPMG, working in their insurance practice. He moved into the financial services industry with Chicago Title & Trust Company (CT&T). While at CT&T, he was named CFO to its investment management business called Alleghany Asset Management (AAM) and was instrumental in growing it from $2 billion of assets under management into a highly profitable $30 billion multi product, multi channel money management firm. When AAM was sold to ABN AMRO Bank, he was retained as CFO of ABN AMRO’s US money management business. Skip left ABN AMRO in 2008 when it was acquired by several competitor banks.
From 2008 until 2013, Skip continued his work growing companies as a business consultant and in 2013, he joined a publicly traded startup, HF2 Financial Management Inc. as its Chief Operating Officer. In 2015 Skip and his partners successfully completed a merger with a privately owned institutional money management firm and he has since resumed his consulting practice.
Skip is a senior officer and board member of the Chicago Chapter of Financial Executives International, a US-based trade association of senior financial executives (e.g. CFOs, controllers, treasurers, etc.) working in public, private and not-for-profit companies in virtually every industry.
For over 12 years, he has been sharing his expertise in the areas of job search, resume preparation, networking and interviewing skills, and other related topics. He is a sought-out speaker and his presentations are fast paced, direct and to the point, with explanations of key topics.
