The 12 steps are designed to serve as road map to navigate the successive steps in the course of a typical architectural engineering project. From beginning to end and all through the intermediate functions of a projects’ specific tasks are required of a designer/engineer the 12 Steps will be a guiding beacon. The 12 steps that will be presented will give a systematic method to follow for the young engineer and possibly seasoned designer in this position for the first time.

In addition to the 12 steps a reference to the appropriate data book and chapter on where relevant information can be found to assist the designer/engineer. The data books published by ASPE are a valuable tool to help the project designer/engineer navigate the most difficult project. Should it involve simple to complex calculation the data books can be their best friend.  Couple the 12 Steps, data books and codes there is nothing the designer/engineer can’t bring to success.
