
Green Plumbing Design GPD Workshop - Chicago - 2024

This is an in-person event in Rosemont, IL (near Chicago O'Hare Airport).
The course will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Thursday, May 16th and 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on Friday May 17th.
The GPD Workshop was created for those who want to increase their skills in designing plumbing systems that conserve and protect water supplies and reduce energy consumption in the delivery and use of water. The two-day workshop in Chicago will cover:
- Residential plumbing conservation measures
- Efficient solar-heated water design and installation
- Water-efficient technology measures
- Commercial and domestic plumbing inspection reports
- Calculations
- Sustainable product selection
Certificate of Participation & GPD Designation Use
Each participant at this workshop will be awarded a Certificate of Participation.
In addition, participants who successfully pass the assessment at the end of the workshop and currently hold either the Certified in Plumbing Design (CPD) credential and/or a Professional Engineer (PE) license will be granted use of the GPD designation. Any participant who does not hold either designation and successfully passes the assessment will only be given a certificate of participation. Use of the GPD designation is not be permitted.

This workshop will be held in-person at ASPE HQ in Rosemont, Illinois, a short ride from Chicago O'Hare Airport.

Douglas Nelson
Associate Professor
Douglas Nelson is an Associate Professor in MSOE's Civil and Architectural Engineering and Construction Management Department. Nelson also held the Pieper Family Foundation Endowed Chair for Servant-Leadership at the university from 2019-2022. Previously he taught within the State University of New York (SUNY) system. He has industry experience as a Design Engineering Supervisor and a Technical Specialist; both in the water treatment industry. Nelson is an active member of the Water Environment Federation, American Society of Plumbing Engineers, and Wisconsin Servant-Leadership Steering Committee.
