This one-hour webinar is based on PPI’s “Design Guide: PEX Water Supply Plumbing Systems” (2013). It demonstrates how the properties of PEX systems can improve the health, safety and welfare of building occupants through reliable long-term delivery of clean water, and provides design guidance to optimize performance. It explains piping design methods that can provide faster delivery of hot-water to fixtures, improve overall system efficiency, optimize use of materials, and improve installation efficiency. Design examples are illustrated and compared. Empirical test data is used to provide answers about the best ways to design PEX plumbing systems to optimize performance.

The Presenters: Lance MacNevin, P.Eng.
Lance MacNevin, P.Eng. has been in the plastic pipe industry since 1993. A mechanical engineer from Canada (UNB ‘92), he worked for a manufacturer of PEX piping systems for over 20 years as a product development engineer, codes and standards specialist, and developer of training programs. In 2015, Lance joined PPI’s Building & Construction Division, which focuses on pressure piping materials for plumbing and mechanical systems. He has developed expertise in piping standards and mechanical codes, and is a member of ASHRAE, ASME, ASPE, ASTM, AWWA, CSA, IAPMO, IGSHPA and RPA.
