2018 Conference Session - Legionella Risk Mitigation Strategies for the Plumbing Engineer

Recorded On: 10/16/2018

2018 Conference Session - Legionella Risk Mitigation Strategies for the Plumbing Engineer

There is a renewed focus on the prevention of building-associated Legionnaires’ disease stemming from recent outbreaks and new regulations and standards, such as ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 188 and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Compliance with these new regulations and standards raises expectations for managing waterborne pathogens during the design, construction, and operation of building water systems, including but not limited to hospitals, nursing homes, and hotels. There is not only new liability to the building owner, but also to the engineering community. In this presentation, the panel will review some of the steps that the plumbing engineer can take to minimize the owner’s risk as well as mitigate the engineer’s risk.

Panelists: Adam Green, Christoph Lohr, PE, CPD, LEED AP BD+C, ASSE 6020, and Frank Sidari, PE
